Wendy Rowland is a director, editor and producer whose documentary credits include Living Forever (CBC, The Nature of Things), Bloodlines (CTV), Jailhouse Romance (CBC), Raising Rover (CTV) and Packing Heat (NFB).
In September, 2019, Rowland’s most recent documentary “14 & Muslim” aired on POV/Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The film received critical acclaim and Wendy was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award – Best Director, Documentary Program.
An experienced storyteller, Wendy is also a skilled interviewer with many projects that have given a voice to people who are marginalized.
Recently, Rowland has created web videos for the Canadian Virtual Hospice, Heart House Hospice, Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, Ovarian Cancer Canada and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
She has also covered numerous conferences, doing one-on-one video interviews with researchers, practitioners and patients – a tool which is increasingly being used for knowledge mobilization.
Wendy got her start as one of four emerging filmmakers chosen to participate in the National Film Board of Canada’s prestigious Fast Forward program. Her films have won awards and have screened in Canadian and international festivals.
She received her Master of Arts in Cinema Studies from New York University and a Bachelor of Applied Arts [Honours] from Queen’s University.
